Job Description:

Partnering with the Child Care and Camp Director:

Plan, develop, implement, and maintain all child care programming that includes:

  • Responsibility for the health and safety of each participant.
  • Maintaining records and statistics dealing with each program.
  • Enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Be in compliance with YMCA and Health Department standards.
  • Plan, purchase and distribute snacks and supplies.
  • Ensuring the child care areas are safe, clean and orderly.

Provide supervision to staff and volunteers including:

Interviewing, hiring, terminating and training employees.

  • Planning, assigning and directing work.
  • Performance appraisals.
  • Rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Oversee the coordination of Y activities, and special events as assigned by the Child Care and Camp Director.

Support child care staff as needed including, but not limited to classroom/program coverage and assuming the role and responsibility of the lead teacher.

Assist in working towards accreditation including: tracking monthly community service projects, tracking annual staff training, and implementing age appropriate activities and curriculum for the program (if applicable).

Assist in developing the budget and adhering to company policy regarding fiscal compliance.

Facilitate and review the curriculum standards.

Actively participate in the Y's Annual Campaign.

Complete all work within assigned deadlines thoroughly and satisfactorily.

Communicate effectively in a timely manner with support services, Executive Director and other Program Coordinators to facilitate activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. 3-5 years of experience in a leadership teaching role.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (within 3 months of hire).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Salary: $25,000 - $28,000
