Job Description

The Senior Director, Financial & Operational Analytics provides critical analysis of YMCA’s financial and operational data while developing resources which will be utilized by the Y-USA and the Movement. This position will create models for future projections to guide YMCA financial priorities and resources and will perform advanced analysis of YMCA operations, ventures, and financial reports.

Qualifications

●Bachelor’s degree in business, Statistics, Information Sciences, or related field. Master’s degree (with an analytics/statistics component) preferred. 

●Prior experience with non-profit/social services organizations preferred, preferably in a capacity related to financial and operational analytics (YMCA operations experience preferred).

●Minimum of seven (7) years of experience working with and/or creating business-related data analyses and operational assessments and solutions.  

●Proficient in Microsoft suite and related software.

●Proficiency in data analytics and data visualization platforms preferred.

●Understanding of relational database applications, such as Access, SQL, or similar preferred. 

●Ability to explain technical issues and implications and offer solutions to those without technical or statistical training.

●Proven ability to build rapport and maintain solid working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of organizations.

●Demonstrated experience analyzing large data sets and generating presentations and reports that identify patterns for organization stakeholders.

●Customer-service focus, with demonstrated experience dealing successfully with front-line internal and external customers.

●Possess sound technical skills, analytical abilities, and critical thinking skills.

●Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

●Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change and creatively solve new problems.

●Highly skilled and confident in presenting in person and virtual meetings and sessions with large and small groups. 

 

 

Essential Functions

•Lead internal operations analysis in order to identify operational business efficiencies.

•Work alongside Finance, IT, and HR to develop and establish reporting and analytics requirements.

•Work in partnership across Y-USA departments (YMCA Enterprise Shared Services (YESS); Thriving Ys; Finance; Research, Analytics and Insights; Financial Development; etc.) to ensure streamlined projects, reporting, analyses, and communications related to operational efficiencies.

•Utilize Y-USA and movement-wide financial and operational data to identify economic trends and patterns that may be used to guide Y-USA and Y movement operational practices and processes. 

•Skillfully present findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely to a broad set of stakeholders, including Y-USA and local Y leaders.

•Provide exploratory analyses for YMCA National Board in support of current initiatives and development of future goals.

•Implement data collection and analysis activities as required and requested.

•Support annual budget process and forecasting.

•Incorporate the mission, philosophy, and four core values of the YMCA in all communication with stakeholders and co-workers.

•Perform other duties as assigned.
