Utilizing its setting on nearly 500 acres of scenic property, including a 30-acre private lake, we look forward to providing an exceptional camping experience. Job Description and Required Certifications: JOB DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Director provides a safe and quality camp experience for all, by assisting the Camp Director with the operation of camp, fulfilling staff leadership roles, and supervising & evaluating staff & campers. Provides a quality camp experience to children, staff, and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, consistent with the YMCA Mission and the YMCA Cause. The Assistant Director will provide a safe and nurturing environment for everyone and will be actively involved and have a positive attitude about all camp activities. QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS: 1. Two years or more of college or work experience preferred. 2. At least 21 years of age. 3. Valid Driver’s License 4. Three years or more of specialized experience in two or more of the following areas: sports, outdoor life, arts & crafts, & weekend or evening programs,. 5. Three years of more of training & experience leading camp activities. 6. Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Emergency Oxygen, & First Aid Certifications. 7. Previous experience with supervising and leading staff in a summer camp setting. 8. Previous experience working with diverse populations. 9. Previous experience as a Unit Leader or related position in a summer camp or related field. 10. Ability to effectively work in a developmentally appropriate way with children ages 7-16. 11. Ability to teach leadership development skills. 12. Knowledge and skills in teambuilding 13. YMCA Working with Youth Ages 5-12, certification or the equivalent training and experience preferred. 14. Principles of YMCA Youth Work: Working with Teens 12-17 certification or the equivalent training and experience preferred.
