Job Description

Under the general direction of the Center Executive Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Associate Center Director stewards the Y’s cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization within the community. The Associate Center Director conducts and administers facility functions of the branch and fulfills the role of the Center Executive Director in their absence. This position is primarily responsible for supervising the daily operations and organization leadership for the Membership and Healthy Living Departments with a strong focus on programming and staff mentoring, proving supervision and leadership to center operations. This position participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, along with community relations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business or related field, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Three or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in building strong partnerships effectively among a wide variety of stakeholders to advance a common cause. Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:
    • Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members, or guests to your supervisor.
    • Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
    • Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and assigned safety trainings within 30 days of hire date.
Essential Functions
  • Implement and supervise all programs and collaborations ensuring the highest quality and adherence to YMCA goals and standards are met for Membership, Healthy Living, and other Center initiatives.
  • Implement department and program strategies that support recruitment of new participants and retention of existing members and program participants.
  • Create a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Implements membership strategies that support retention of existing members, fosters a climate of innovation, and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and directs diverse staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Guides others on how to strengthen knowledge, skills, and competencies that improve organizational performance.
  • Manages the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure balanced operations and submits all reports on current operations.
  • Works closely with Healthy Living Team Members to develop income sources and support innovation in group exercise, clinical services, and evidence-based wellness initiatives.
  • Work closely with Welcome Center Team Members to ensure excellent member service standards and supporting the YMCA Cause Driven Member initiatives, with using cause driven language, cause driven tours, and new member onboarding.
  • Acts as the Center Director in the Executive’s absence, especially regarding emergency decisions and issues that require immediate attention.
