Job Description

We are excited to announce an extraordinary opportunity as the Senior Association Director of Grants and Contracts to make a positive impact while contributing to the growth and success of the YMCA.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Grants and Contracts to join our team in this hybrid position. The Senior Director of Grants and Contract will play a key role in securing funding to support the YMCA's mission and programs. This individual will be responsible for researching individual, foundation, and governmental funding opportunities, while also developing grant proposals, and cultivating relationships with funders to maximize support for our initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the Y’s mission and be dedicated to helping expand our capacity to serve. This position will have a direct impact on the organization’s ability to raise and renew contributed revenue in support of the strategic plan.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and fundraising certification a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with non-profit grant writing
  • Experience in public and private proposal writing and reporting
  • Strong ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
  • Ability to attend public grant meetings and provide input on grant requirements
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources and systems
  • Demonstrated superb organizational skills; diligent attention to detail and the ability to manage, plan, track and complete long-range project deadlines and goals.
Essential Functions
  • Research, identify, and apply for grants from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources to support YMCA programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with branches and staff to gather information and develop grant proposals that align with organizational priorities and funding guidelines.
  • Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other communications to effectively communicate YMCA's mission, goals, and impact to potential funders.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and submission requirements, ensuring timely submission of proposals and reports.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders, including stewardship activities such as donor recognition and reporting.
  • Stay informed about trends and developments in philanthropy, grant funding, and nonprofit management.

Required Certifications

Schedule: The Senior Association Director of Grants and Contracts is a hybrid position.  The staff is expected to make in-person visit to the various YMCA branches in the DMV area and work onsite as needed.
