Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Program Director will perform a variety of duties relating to the quality, training and development of assigned programs according to the standards of the YMCA and applicable laws in the Cayman Islands. Primary responsibilities and expertise are aimed towards oversight and quality assurance of the CI Governments' Extended After School Program (EASP). The EASP is currently held at a minimum of 8 primary and secondary school sites on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. The Program Director will work collaboratively and meet regularly with contract providers who operate the daily program to ensure detailed outcomes are met - supported with appropriate data - and reported to the Ministry of Education who provides primary funding for the program. This position will work closely with management to provide a safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate program for students. The Program Director will also be accountable for identifying and implementing cost efficiencies, increasing available funding for the program, compliance with all policies and procedures, as well as excellent student, parent and community relations. This position will also be expected to work closely with program operators to develop new activity options to meet the changing interests and needs of youth, capitalize on potential opportunities, and purposefully expand the skills and talents of students. Additional responsibilities and emphasis will be determined by the CEO as the position develops over time. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: regular site evaluations for quality assurance and compliance with governing agencies, communication with school principals and designated personnel, marketing, training, direct program support and other duties as assigned. The candidate must also be available during site hours of operation.

Entry Requirements:

  • Four year degree in Education or related field (preferred) or 7 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in staff supervision.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience directly overseeing a multi-site, child care program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality assurance.
  • Practical knowledge and experience of budget development, monitoring and financial reporting.
  • Practical knowledge of childcare licensing requirements.
  • Must possess strong verbal, written, communication and supervisory skills.
  • Must be current or willing to obtain within 30days of hire: CPR/First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, Food Handlers, and Child Abuse Prevention as per YMCA Child Care Division standards.
  • Must pass criminal history check, extensive references, driving record check, fingerprint and drug tests.
  • Valid Cayman Islands driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Current/Previous recognition as child care provider through accredited, licensing body is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of YMCA experience is preferred.

Salary: $44,200 - $58,200
