Camp Description: YMCA Camp Classen is located midway between Oklahoma City and Dallas on 2,140 acres in the Arbuckle mountains with waterfalls, lakes, open meadows, and miles of hiking and horseback trails. Through our traditional summer resident camp program, our Outdoor Education program, two weekend family camps and many weekend Adventure Guide groups we will serve over 8,000 individuals this year.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Join the team of the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City as Outdoor Education Director for YMCA Camp Classen, our year-round camp focused on providing experiences that shape a life and create memories and friendships that last a life time. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Outdoor School Director provides supervision and implementation of high quality Outdoor School programs for user staff recruitment and supervision of Outdoor School staff and for budget, development and control in his/her program areas. He/she assists with the promotion of the Summer Camp program with Outdoor School participants. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid. The person filling this position should have a college degree in education, science, environmental studies or a related field and 3-5 years experience in resident camp operations and staff supervision. He/she must have training and experience in curriculum development and implementation for all ages of participants. He/she must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with people on all levels. He/she must be able to exercise discretion and make independent judgments. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must stay current in CPRPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually. Overall organization, supervision and direction of the Outdoor School program. Hire, train and supervise all Outdoor School staff. Plan and conduct teacher-training programs. Serve as the liaison between Camp Classen and the teachers and educators of the user schools/school systems. Develop and mange the budget for the Outdoor School programs and assist with the development and management of the general camping budget. Provide for the delivery of program to our Outdoor School participants and teachers. Coordinate with the Food Service Director, operations during all Outdoor School sessions. Responsible for the stewardship of camps natural resources, facilities, equipment and programs. Assists with the promotion of the Summer Camp program. Responsible for budgeting, purchasing and inventory for the camp store in conjunction with the Executive Director. Take part in the leadership and assist with the Summer Camp program as part of a director team. Be present at appropriate Council meetings to make reports. Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors and volunteers.
Salary Information: Our current starting salary for Program Directors is $33,500 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include an on-site housing and utilities, health, dental and life insurance, generous paid leave time and 12% retirement paid by the Association.
