Job Description and Required Certifications: General Function: Under the guidance of the executive director, this position is responsible for marketing, planning, developing, supervising, and coordinating a high quality summer resident camp program. In addition, this position is responsible for developing community awareness for YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow through marketing, promotions, and events in the local communities of Kerr county and surrounding areas. Additionally, in order to meet the needs of all programs at YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow, the incumbent is required to live on-site and will be provided with camp housing. Essential Functions: Models and communicates the YMCA of Greater San Antonios mission, vision, and values. Develops and manages the budget for summer resident camp and provides insight to the development and management of the overall CFA branch budget, including retreats, food service, and facility departments. Plans and executes the summer camp program curriculum in partnership with other program directors and executive director. Evaluates and monitors summer camp program to ensure camp programs are meeting the needs of the participants. Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises all summer camp staff positions in accordance with YMCA of Greater San Antonio hiring and on-boarding procedures. Ensures that all camp programs are operated in a safe and professional manner, adhering to the standards of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. Coordinates with the food service director in planning summer camp and retreats season to expedite ordering and food service delivery to participants. Provides necessary information to all summer camp participants and parents. Organizes and implements quarterly communication pieces to parents of campers and staff. Develops and implements marketing and retention plans to promote summer camp and retreat growth for Camp Flaming Arrow throughout the year. Promotes all YMCA of Greater San Antonio summer camp programs to retreats program participants. Follows established marketing and graphics standards. Increases local awareness of YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow in Kerr county and surrounding areas through oral presentations, promotions, program flyers, etc. Provides program data and reports in support of planning processes and presentations at appropriate Board Meetings. Displays stewardship of camps natural resources, facilities, equipment, and programs. Serves as a leader on the CFA team to provide direction of overall camp operations including setting goals and objectives, activity plans, safety procedures, and risk management guidelines for all program areas. Assists with the coordination of activities and operations between camp departments as they relate to the retreat program and the camp in general such as assigned host coverage. Participates in weekend camp coverage with the rest of the CFA leadership team throughout the year. Maintains good relations within the YMCA outdoor environmental education and camping communities and affiliated professional organizations. Continues professional growth through educational study and conference attendance. Coordinates all ACA guidelines and accreditation process. Participates in the Ys Annual Partners Campaign. Performs all other duties as assigned. Key Deliverables: All programs will be designed, developed, and implemented using the highest quality standards with the goal of increasing camper retention and maintaining high camper satisfaction scores. Promotion strategies and monthly communication designed and implemented to build summer enrollment resulting in summer camp being filled to capacity in all sessions as well as filling off season weekends with appropriate retreat groups. All finance targets are met with dependable revenue production and detailed expense management. The highest caliber staff will be hired, trained, and supervised within all state, ACA, and YMCA standards. All camp facilities and equipment will be maintained in a proper quality manner. The highest level of safety guidelines will be followed at all times. Entry Requirements: This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in recreation, education, or related field. 3 years of YMCA experience preferred. Experience in summer resident camp, retreat services or environmental education and 1 year experience in marketing, public relations, or communications are preferred. Experience in resident camp program operation and staff supervision as well as program development and implementation of program for participants of all ages. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, customer service and public relations skills, and the ability to work with youth and adults are essential. This position requires certification of CPR Pro and First Aid within 60 days of hire; and Redwoods Online Training of BBP, Defensive Driving, and Hazardous Communications within the first week of employment. A Texas Drivers license is required as well as driving to various locations within the city. In addition, lifeguard and high ropes certification is preferred. Experience with computers, including personal computer applications such as database and word processing. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Physical/Mental Requirements: Work is performed in a fast-paced outdoor and office environment. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing is essential for this position. Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required. Job requires high levels of alertness and concentration. Walking is frequent. Repetitive stooping and bending with frequent lifting of light to heavy objects is required. The ability to sit for long periods of time is required as well as, the ability to manipulate keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing and kitchen utensils.
Salary Information: $28,000-36,000/year plus housing
