Job Description and Required Certifications: Position Summary: The Day Camp Health Care Professional oversees the health and well-being of the entire Day Camp participants and staff, providing medical supervision, medication oversight, and registration screening. Essential Functions / Requirements: Must be a Colorado Licensed RN or Licensed Emergency Medical Technician meeting Social Services and American Camping Association requirements for Day Camp. Must enjoy working with children. Must be fluent in speaking and writing English. Must possess current First Aid and CPR certifications through August of current year. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds. Provide basic medical treatment to campers and staff. Administer prescribed medication to campers. Check camper health forms for current health concerns or recent treatments. Communicate with appropriate counselors regarding camper health concerns. Review medical log and record incident reports. Organize and maintain nurse’s station. Conduct inventories and order needed medical supplies. Establish contacts with local physicians for referrals. Stock and assign first aid kits to staff. Examine Backcountry counselors and campers before and after the overnight trip. Maintain accurate records. Ensure camp safety through safety checks of buildings, camp areas, and first aid kits. Must possess a valid, USA state issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles. Support the Association safety program. Promote safe work practices and a safe environment for guests, members and staff. Uphold the YMCA of the Rockies Mission, policies and programs. Uphold and reflect the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in all functions. Promote a cooperative, positive and problem-solving atmosphere at all times. Ability to work cooperatively with others in a diverse environment. Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards. Possess excellent customer service skills; for example, friendly, personable, helpful, patient, and professional. Other Functions / Requirements: Ensure a healthy staff. All other duties as assigned.
