Camp Description: Mon—Fri, Y-Ki (Traditional summer camp offering a variety of activities which help campers build self-esteem, confidence, independence, and responsibility - all while enjoying outdoor summertime fun with friends - offsite at Town Park.)9 AM–4 PM; Sports Camp (Through their participation in sports, we watch children devleop skills that can be taken beyond the field or court - onsite at YMCA facility) 8:45 AM – 3:45 PM; Mini (Ages 3-5 years old-offers creative learning, recreational, and social experience for our campers, who enjoy activities designed to teach new skills as well as provide lots of fun - onsite at YMCA facility.) 9:15 AM – 2:15 PM

Job Description and Required Certifications: GENERAL FUNCTION *Review camper medical forms and discuss emergency action plans with families, and camp directors. *Oversee dispensing of prescription and OTC medication to campers *Screen and treat camper and staff illnesses and injuries *Make referrals and act as liaison to emergency services, physician’s offices, and/or hospitals *Handle any emergencies in accordance with camp policies DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE *Licensed RN or LPN in the state of CT *Experience working with children ages 3yrs - 8th grade, as well as children with special needs. *Desire to work outdoors and participate in camp activities SEASONAL COMMITMENT *Camp Dates: June 23 —August 15, 2014 *Additional Part Time hours desired beginning May 1st *Camp hours: Mon—Fri, Y-Ki 9 AM–4 PM, Sports Camp 8:45 AM – 3:45 PM, Mini 9:15 AM – 2:15 PM *Competitive salary dependent upon experience PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES I. PRIOR TO START OF CAMP A. Review medical forms of all campers and staff attending camp. Contact parents to discuss any problems, medications, or missing information. Inform directors. B. Assist in setting up the Nurse’s Station. C. Help plan and conduct awareness training session as part of staff orientation. II. DURING CAMP A. Collect prescription and over the counter medications B. Perform professional nursing services including, but not limited to: administering first aid and emergency treatment to campers and staff, making determinations of the level of medical care necessary for those sick or injured; contacting parents regarding campers’ medical care; dispensing prescription and over the counter medications according to a physician’s specific or standing order; maintaining camper and staff medical forms; and working closely with directors for information and referrals. C. Keep a log of all camper and staff visits, and dispensing of medications, including time, date and purpose of visit. D. Drop off log each Friday afternoon to New Canaan Medical Group, to be signed by physician. Pick up log each Monday morning. E. Be an active participant in camp life when time allows, yet always remain available for emergency care. F. Additional administrative duties as assigned. III. CLOSING CAMP A. Keep an inventory and oversee secure storage for first aid and related health supplies. Create an order for the upcoming summer and complete closing document (summer review). B. Return all medications home with campers appropriately labeled. KNOW-HOW *Be knowledgeable of the “40 Developmental Assets” set forth by the Search Institute.
