Camp Description: YMCA Camp Seymour occupies 160 acres and a half mile of Puget Sound shoreline on the Key Peninsula, 30 minutes from Tacoma. We build self esteem and encourage collaboration through activities such as kayaking, canoeing, climbing on our 37 foot climbing wall, archery, swimming in our heated pool, arts and crafts, soccer, basketball, trip and paddle programs, and so much more. Additionally, Seymour boasts spectacular environmental learning opportunities, with a garden, marine touch tanks, almost 80 acres of evergreen forests and a reptile room. Our recently renovated cabins have heat and indoor plumbing. Since 1905, Camp Seymour has provided and continues to provide opportunities for staff and campers to learn and grow together in a beautiful setting where the water, trees and mountains come together.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Directly supervises, supports, and mentors a group of 4-8 day camp staff. Works collaboratively with Day Camp Director to organize & implement overall day camp program. Provides a quality experience to campers & families focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Represents the YMCA and self in a professional manner of safety and fun. Qualifications Minimum age of 21. Two summers previous summer camp staff experience or equivalent. Specialized and practical knowledge of/ experience in: cabin leadership, child behavior, peer leadership and supervision; staff management & motivation. Outstanding ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Integrity, patience, adaptability, sense of humor, enthusiasm, and a commitment to serve youth. Ability to train, motivate, support, share insights & ideas with, and supervise resident camp staff; communicate openly with supervisor; organize, facilitate, and evaluate camp, unit, and other activities; support and connect with campers; perform duties as specified in job description and by supervisor; behave as an appropriate positive role model in all camp activities. Sensitivity to the needs of families including adults and children. Current 1st aid & CPR for duration of the season strongly preferred. Lifeguard certification preferred. Good driving record with ability to drive a 14 passenger mini bus with training from Camp Seymour. YMCA required trainings including Child Abuse Prevention training (within 60 days) and Blood borne Pathogen Training (within 90 days). Physical Demands: Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
Salary Information: $225-300/week + depending on qualifications
