Camp Description: YMCA Camp Seymour occupies 160 acres and a half mile of Puget Sound shoreline on the Key Peninsula, 30 minutes from Tacoma. We build self esteem and encourage collaboration through activities such as kayaking, canoeing, climbing on our 37 foot climbing wall, archery, swimming in our heated pool, arts and crafts, soccer, basketball, trip and paddle programs, and so much more. Additionally, Seymour boasts spectacular environmental learning opportunities, with a garden, marine touch tanks, almost 80 acres of evergreen forests and a reptile room. Our recently renovated cabins have heat and indoor plumbing. Since 1905, Camp Seymour has provided and continues to provide opportunities for staff and campers to learn and grow together in a beautiful setting where the water, trees and mountains come together.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Actively develop, supervise and maintain safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate creative arts program and program areas (arts and crafts, woodcraft, performing arts, and other media). Supervise scheduling for arts and crafts area and other program areas as needed. Schedule daily “camptivity” sessions, maintain rosters and manage break-outs. Provide progressive instruction in creative arts classes and supervision and support of staff instructors. Work with Leadership staff and Camp Director to organize and implement overall camp program. Minimum Qualifications • Minimum Age of 20 • One season related experience in summer camp crafts and basic teaching experience in two of the following: crafts, performing arts, visual arts, media, woodcraft, or darkroom/photography. • Integrity, patience, adaptability, sense of humor, enthusiasm, organization, and a commitment to serve youth. • Current First Aid and CPR for duration of the season strongly preferred. Lifeguard certification helpful. • Specialized and practical knowledge of/experience in: typical summer camp creative arts projects, child behavior, peer leadership and supervision; staff management and motivation. • Human relation skills: Ability to train, motivate, support, share insights and ideas with, and supervise staff instructors; communicate openly with supervisor; organize, facilitate, and evaluate activities; support and connect with campers; perform duties as specified in job description and by supervisor; behave as an appropriate positive role model in all camp activities.

Salary Information: $225 - 275/ week depending on qualifications and experience
