Job Description and Required Certifications: Major Responsibilities: Responsible for equestrian program development and implementation. Supervision of barn counselors and campers Develop a positive impact in the lives of the kids we serve through equestrian programs. Equestrian program includes teaching western style riding, care and maintenance of horses and barn, supervision of campers and staff in order to ensure safety and learning. Responsible for other duties the Summer Camp Director assigns. Qualifications: Must be a minimum of 21 years of age 3-years of Equestrian-training experience and strong leadership skills are a must Must follow American Camping Association (ACA) and YMCA Camp Matawa safety regulations Able to serve YMCA Camp Matawa participants ages 7-16 and strive to provide exceptional programming and exhibit outstanding role model characteristics Must be able work outdoors for the majority of the day Ability to manage a herd of 12 horses and maintain a clean and safe barn environment Requires participation with and leadership of youth in a wide variety of physical activities; requires the ability to traverse the campgrounds on a frequent basis throughout the day Must exhibit the core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty Good communication skills are required; must be able to interact with campers Able to work as part of a team Benefits: Free household Y membership and discounted YMCA child care and other programs.
