Camp Description: 214 Acres nestled along East Lake Okoboji. 101 year outstanding tradition of enriching boys and girls through programs such as archery, riflery, canoeing, sailing, skiing, arts/crafts, rope courses, paint ball, horses, swimming, and much more. 24 cabins, dining hall, two conference center, indoor riding arena, swimming pool, chapel, and arts/crafts center. Multiple staff housing areas for both full and part-time staff.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Make a difference in a community! Job Summary: To work as part of the YMCA Leadership Team in applying areas of emphasis; youth development, healthy living, social responsibility by providing leadership for the daily operations of Resident Camp and Groups Camping of Camp Foster YMCA. Provide leadership and vision for program and staff development.Essential Functions: 1. Overall a) Support the mission of the YMCA. b) Incorporate the YMCA character development Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Fairness in our daily routine and incorporate these character traits when interacting with staff and members. c) Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow staff and members of all ages and background. 2. Program Management a. Groups Programming 1) Responsible for planning and implementation of ALL conference camping. 2) Plan and implement programs for Special Event Programs 3) Responsible for billing and follow up to each group as needed. 4) Recruit groups and Conferences on a year round basis. 5) Coordinate/notify groups schedules with other professional staff. 6) Perform other duties as directed by supervisor. 7) Plan and coordinate meals and schedules for group camping. b. Program Development 1) Implement paintball program a. Learn and execute curriculum b. Teach facilitators from this curriculum and maintain highest standards c. Maintain and monitor equipment and consumables 2) Implement Ranch Program a. Learn and execute curriculum b. Manage ranch operations c. Follow through curriculum development and policies 3) Focus on identified target populations and create programs based on their needs. 4) Be the on-site director/teacher as time/ability allow. 5) Recruit staff and volunteers to work with programs. 6) Develop acceptable budgets for each program. 7) Adhere to budget throughout the program. 8) Distribute marketing materials in the most effective manner. 9) Be the immediate person responsible for camp program areas. c. Resident Camp 1) Assist with marketing for Resident Camp. 2) Directly supervise all summer staff. 3) Plan and implement programming for resident camp. 4) Assist with development of new program options for campers. 5) Develop, mentor and evaluate summer staff. 6) Coordinate program area schedules with Day Camp. 7) Coordinate staff training efforts as well as in-services. 8) Assist all staff hiring effort. 3. Supervision a) Assist in recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate, selected program staff, and volunteers. b) Assist staff trainings as needed to keep staff informed and certified. c) Work with supervisor to develop and implement training process for staff to prepare them for work. 4. Budget a) Monitor income and expenses and stay within budget of all programs. All variances must be reported to supervisor with explanations. b) In cooperation with the Camp Executive and Finance Director, develop, monitor, and implement the annual budget. c) Provide input into the development of camp programs department budgets. d) Responsible to monitor staffing patterns and make recommendations or needed changes to Camp Executive. 5. Program Promotion a) Collaborate with the Communications Director to implement marketing plan for all Resident Camp and Group Programming. b) Distribute materials in a timely and efficient manner for all programs. c) Support a method to communicate with alumni and share opportunities. d) Continually research new avenues for material distribution. 6. Financial Development a) Act as a Staff Liaison in Annual Community Support Campaign. b) Contribute grant research and writing for various opportunities for Camp programs. c) Work with camp alumni and community on development of sustaining gifts to Camp Foster YMCA. 7. Volunteer Development a) Support a record system for camp volunteers. b) Recruit, supervise and train program volunteers for Camp Foster YMCA. c) Act as a staff liaison to various committees served by Camp Foster YMCA. 8. Qualifications a) BA/BS in education, recreation, or related field or similar experience. b) Attain appropriate certifications to run school-age, day camp, resident camp, and ACA certification programs. c) Work towards obtaining Team Leader Certification. d) Will acquire and maintain appropriate CDL for YMCA passenger vehicles.
Salary Information: $28,000 - $32,000 Generous PTO Program, Health Savings Account, 12% Paid retirement, Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, clothing and Phone stipend
