Job Description and Required Certifications: The YMCA of Greater New York is the largest youth-service organization in NYC. The organization has grown to encompass 21 branches and more than 140 sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City in addition to three camp sites and an upstate conference center. The New York YMCA Camp is seeking for a qualified individual who will be directly involved with the leadership and development of Division Leaders, Cabin Leaders and campers. The Cabin Life Director will help Division Leaders with creating a strong cabin and division unity. She/he will also provide guidance on staff morale and help with any staff issues in regard to time-off, discipline, mentoring, evaluation and the development of the Division Leaders and other staff. Responsibilities: • Plan, schedule and lead meetings relevant to staff morale and cabin life. • Lead daily meetings with division leaders to discuss and solve issues among staff and campers. • Report all camper and staff issues, behavioral and disciplinary problems to Village Director. • Be a role model for other staff and campers. • Act as an ongoing training and support resource for all Division Leaders and program staff. • Uphold staff morale by implementing positive activities for the staff. • Oversee the day to day functioning of each cabin. • Assist Village Director in check-in and check-out procedures and appropriate paperwork. • Maintain staff time-off schedule. • Act as Liaison with the main office to assign staff to available rooms at the Vanderbilt YMCA on free nights. • Make sure that Division Leaders have all cabins covered at all times. • Assign a Division Leader to conduct cabin and village inspection each morning. • Assist with camper mail/email. • Ensure that all mid and end of summer evaluations are completed for all staff. • Maintain ACA standards for cabin areas. • Attend all designated meetings and trainings associated with the Camp Program. Qualifications: • Minimum of one year of experience as a Division Leader or equivalent role. • Strong leadership and communication skills with experience supervising staff. • Current driver’s license and excellent driving record. • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Salary Information: $300 P/W

Room and Board Provided: Yes
