Camp Name: Camp Gorham

Camp Location: Eagle Bay, NY

Camp Description: GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for the execution of the summer camp program, weekend groups, family programs, parent/child programs, rentals and other assigned responsibilities. This position is hands-on, implementing high quality, safe, fun programming. The employee must reside at YMCA of Greater Rochester Camp Gorham year round in provided housing. Extensive marketing travel required November through April for recruitment of campers and staff. A camp vehicle is provided. QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services, education, or recreation field. The candidate must have 2 years of demonstrated experience in the planning and operation of successful resident camp programs that includes staff supervision; waterfront, ropes course and travel (i.e. trip and trail) operations; and other related programs and evidenced based outcomes of a successful run and managed resident summer camp program. The candidate must have 2 years of supervisory experience in a resident camp setting. Other qualifications include: • Organization skills • Effective oral and written communication skills • Teambuilding skills that enable positive working relationships with diverse groups of people. • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification. • It is preferred that candidate have completed an advanced first aid course (as required by New York State) or as a condition of employment complete the advanced first aid course within the first year of employment. • It is preferred that candidate have completed instructor level certifications for life guarding or as a condition of employment complete the advanced first aid course within the first year of employment. • As a condition of employment successful competition the YMCA’s New Employee Orientation and Child Abuse Prevention Training within 1 month of employee start date. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: Accepts and demonstrates the Y’s values. Demonstrates a desire to serve and fulfill community needs. Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions. Listen for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively. Makes sound judgments, and transfers learning from one situation to another. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up to date knowledge and skills in technology.

Salary Information: $31,000 - $37,200
