Camp Description: Founded in 1918, YMCA Camp Wapsie is the Camp of the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas. Wapsie’s coed summer camp programs serves boys and girls ages 6-18 in our summer resident and day camp program. We serve campers of all ages through our year-round retreats, youth and family programs. Situated on 172 acres of scenic woodlands and wetlands with an oxbow lake off the Wapsipinicon River in northern Linn County, Iowa; YMCA Camp Wapsie is owned and operated by the YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area. The warm and relaxed atmosphere of Camp Wapsie with its natural beauty provides an ideal setting to experience the outdoors and enhance the self-esteem of all people.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Position Description: -Leads and expands all aspects of the camp’s outside group/retreat program, which includes but is not limited to Outdoor Environmental Education and Teambuilding programs. -Assists with the camp’s year around day-to-day camp operations and Summer Resident Camp. -Leads and manages camp’s financial assistance and “earn your way to camp” candy sale programs. -Contributes guidance and energy to ensure that YMCA Camp Wapsie provides quality programs, sound business practices, and strong relationships with camp friends, program participants, and alumni. -Works diligently to assure a safe and pleasant camping experience for everyone who participates in camp’s programs. -Provides assistance with program design, marketing, and implementation of Summer Resident Camp and Specialty Camps. -Assumes Camp Director duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Camp Director. -Serves as an active member of the YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area’s Program/Executive Staff Team and the YMCA Camp Wapsie Advisory Committee. Position Requirements: -Must truly enjoy working and interacting with people of all types and ages, with a special emphasis on children, while modeling and utilizing the important core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. -Possess well developed organizational and communication skills, and a strong work ethic, -Professional work experience with program development, marketing, and budgeting is preferred. -Capable and willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Salary Information: $26,000.00
