Camp Name: Camp Chief Ouray
Camp Location: Winter Park, CO
Camp Description: For over a century, Camp Chief Ouray (CCO) has been the adventurous playground and traditional overnight camp for kids age 7-17. Campers live in cabins with two counselors and six to nine other children of their own gender and age. Each cabin is under the direct leadership of a college-aged counselor. Counselors receive extensive training at camp prior to the campers' arrival. We maintain a staff-to-camper ratio of 1:5 or lower. Located on 5,100 acres of mountains, valleys, streams and meadows boredom is simply not an option.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Job Description: Camp Chief Ouray/YMCA of the Rockies seeks its next Assistant Camp Director to lead through an exciting time of growth. Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of our Traditional Camp program, including horseback riding and ropes courses; staff hiring; directly supervising members of our leadership team; some marketing and fund-raising duties; off-season special events. On-site housing offered on our beautiful 5,100 acre site in the heart of the Rockies. Personal Requirements Minimum of 21 years of age. Have three years of education, training, and/or experience related to organized camping. Have administrative and scheduling skills. Bachelor's Degree in recreation, education or related field (preferred). Supervisory Supervise Cluster Leaders (Outdoor, Target, Special, General). Supervise Challenge Course Cluster Leader. Supervise Horseback Riding Director. Supervise Challenger Counselors. Assist with recruiting, interviewing and hiring of staff. Training Lead an administrative pre-camp training, with assistance from Camp Director, for Cluster Leaders and other appropriate leaders. Assist with staff training and evaluation of training. Provide training appropriate to areas supervised to assure quality programming and camp activities. Program Become familiar with total camp program. Oversee setting up and maintenance of camp program areas. Provide leadership in the development of programs in harmony with the Camp's policies, goals, objectives and procedures. Make sure staff is properly organized and has lesson planned activities which meet ACA, YMCA of the USA and Social Services standards and regulations. Operate the daily schedule. Observe appropriate program activities daily. Maintain log of daily camp "happenings", i.e. weather, special activities, evening programs etc. Other Be responsible for being "on-duty" as needed throughout the summer to assist with any emergencies that may arise. Be responsible for disciplining staff as necessary and within guidelines discussed with camp administration during pre-camp administrative training. Assist with the overall administration of the camp as organized by Camp Director.
Salary Information: 25000-28000
