Camp Description: YMCA Camp Chingachgook, established in 1913 is seeking a dynamic individual to become the next Executive Director at the Camp. Camp Chingachgook is part of the Capital District YMCA and is located on the east shore of Lake George, NY. Our camp is located on 200 acres that borders thousands of acres of forever wild Adirondack Mountains.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Capital District YMCA Camp Chingachgook Executive Director In partnership with Senior Vice President of Operations and other senior staff, the Executive Director is responsible for leading operations in accordance with policies established by the Capital District YMCA Board of Directors and President/CEO. Camp Chingachgook has a budget of $3 million in revenues. The successful candidate must possess a BA/BS from an accredited university preferred and or equivalent professional experience and 8+ years of experience in a leadership position, preferably in a YMCA or other non-profit organization. They must have demonstrated leadership ability in resident camp management, excellent human relations, organization, and communication skills focused on relationship building. They should model the personal leadership characteristics and maturity that shapes the culture of this organization. Have a willingness to obtain and/or sustain YMCA Multi-Team/Organizational Leader certification. They should have knowledge of, commitment to and reinforcement of the mission and values of the YMCA and its capacity to strengthen community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Effectively communicate the benefits and impact of the Y’s efforts for all stakeholders. Integrates multiple thinking processes to make decisions and provides others with frameworks for making decisions. Principal Responsibilities: Connect volunteers and staff to the meaning of our work. In alignment with Association strategic goals, develop, align, and execute annual operating objectives and business plan for the Camp. Ensure effective systems, provide tools, and align resources that develop staff as well as volunteers at program, fundraising, and policy levels so that all demonstrate cause-driven leadership. Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with community organizations and YMCA volunteers. Serve as a community leader building collaborations based on trust and credibility to advance the Y’s mission and goals. Ensure inclusive practices that treat all volunteers and staff with dignity and value within accordance of the Capital District YMCA policies and procedures. Develops strategies to ensure staff and volunteers reflect the community. Oversee all operations of the camp to ensure it meets ACA standards and is a place of safety. Manage and be responsible for the camp budget, purchasing, and related finances, including getting signed contracts with all vendors and contractors. Must lead safety efforts, property management and vision, Alumni development and expansion and Capital Development. Advocate for resident camping and act as an educational resource for youth development programming- especially as it related to urban children’s outdoor experiences. Focus of developing strong public relations and maintain positive working relationships with current groups and potential customers. Create a culture of integrity and impact while providing appropriate and timely feedback. (Ie. Coaching and Professional Development). Assigns clear accountability and ensures continuous improvement. Cultivate and intentionally develop staff and volunteers to ensure a succession plan within the organization. Ensure the YMCA’s continued charitable relevance and community impact. Secure resources and support for all philanthropic endeavors. Creates a sense of urgency and positive tension to support change. Fosters a learning environment embracing diverse abilities and approaches. Ensure that the camp meets or exceeds a positive fiscal position in relation to budget. Provide Leadership as requested to Association initiatives. The position will require travel to the various branches/sites of the Capital District YMCA. Salary: $65,000 – 75,000.
