Job Description and Required Certifications: GENERAL FUNCTION Under the supervision of the Branch Director, the Chef will oversee all aspects of the operation of food services at YMCA Camp Wa Wa Segowea. KNOW HOW An experienced culinary professional with a passion for making a difference in children’s lives, and a commitment to the Y’s vision for creating an exceptional camp program. Minimum of 25 years old. Minimum 2 seasons of kitchen supervisory experience in organized camp. JOB SEGMENTS 1. Manage overall operation of camp kitchen and food services. 2. Train, supervise and evaluate all kitchen staff. 3. Coordinate development of camp menu, and execute all purchasing to fulfill menu. Purchasing will be according to budget and projected enrollment. 4. Prepare all meals during assigned days/shifts, and arrange for all meals outside of assigned days/shifts including weekends. 5. Responsible for cleanliness of kitchen. 6. Live on-site Monday-Friday during camp season. 7. Communicate regularly with Branch Director and Camp Director. 8. Other duties assigned by the Branch Director. EFFECT ON END RESULT The effectiveness of the employee’s fulfillment of this position should be measured by: 1. Ability to create a healthy and sustainable meal plan for camp. 2. Ability to remain within camp food service budget. 3. Ability to direct kitchen staff in order to ensure successful functioning of camp food services. 4. The level of camper satisfaction of food served.
