CAMP WAPSIE-INTERN/PROGRAM COORDINATOR Camp Name: Camp Wapsie Camp Location: Coggon, IA Camp Description: YMCA Camp Wapsie has been offering summer camp and retreat programs since 1918. YMCA Camp Wapsies year-round programming offers retreats, outdoor education, and team-building programs for groups from 4th grade up to adults. Specialty camps and family camps are also offered throughout the year. YMCA Camp Wapsie is accredited by the American Camping Association and hosts approximately 7,000 guests and campers annually. Sponsoring YMCA: YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area YMCA Location: Cedar Rapids, IA Job Description and Required Certifications: Position Responsibilities: The Program Coordinator works under the guidance of the Assistant Camp Director to deliver high quality programs for all guests and groups who come to Camp Wapsie. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for facilitation of outdoor education and team-building programs, and direct climbing activities on the camps Tango Tower. Training is provided. Additional responsibilities include: assisting with marketing; recruiting program participants; planning, developing, and implementing programs for various age groups. Entry Requirements: Enjoy working and interacting with people of all types and ages in an outdoor setting, experience teaching recreational lessons, modeling and utilizing the important core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Working knowledge of the recreation field; Current CPR, First Aid, belayer and lifeguarding certifications are preferred. Salary Information: $225.00/Week. YMCA membership included. Meals are provided when guests are on-site. Training will be given on high and low ropes course, Wi-Fi internet access available.
