Camp Description: The New York YMCA Camp serves a diverse group of children composed mostly of New York City children in a globally diverse community built upon the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our goal is for each child to enjoy safe adventures, make new friends and have joyful experiences every day. The New York YMCA Camp is located on 1,100 forested acres 86 miles northeast of New York City where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania share a border.

Job Description and Required Certifications: The NY YMCA Camp is seeking a qualified individual who will supervise participants on extended trips, meal preparation and assist in leading adventure based activities. This position requires extensive driving and strenuous activities. RESPONSIBILITIES: Be a consistent role model to participants and staff. Maintain itinerary to ensure participants are receiving well-rounded experience. Motivate participants and ensure their safety and supervision. Enforce camp and external agencies policies and procedures. Assist with planning and leading activities while at camp. Maintain YMCA of Greater New York, American Camping Association and NYS Health Department standards both on and off camp. Maintain communication with Outdoor Adventure Director while on trips. Ensure appropriate staff to camper ratios. Report any safety, risk management, cleanliness and maintenance concerns to Director as they arise. Recognize and acknowledge good behavior. Monitor and maintain all program equipment in good working order. Address camper issues as needed. Assist with supervision of campers during their stay at camp. Be on duty at night, when scheduled. Actively participate in weekly staff meetings. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 21 years of age. Significant experience or education in the areas of camping, outdoor pursuits and small water craft operation and instruction. Current First Aid/Wilderness First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
