Camp Description: YMCA's from all across Southern California use Camp Oakes for their summer camping programs. For over 50 years, Oakes has taken generations of children to new heights with new friends at their sides. Oakes is the ultimate summer camp experience. We provide each participant with high quality programs including horseback riding, rifles, archery, canoeing and more. Our staff continuously teach the campers about the science aspect of camp. Campers gain knowledge in plants and animals, pond and lake studies, animal husbandry, wilderness survival and a variety of other topics. Our attentive and supportive camp staff is available to provide a truly unique and enriched camp experience!

Job Description and Required Certifications: YMCA Camp Oakes is looking for a seasonal Ranch Manager to provide leadership to the equestrian program during the summer. For over 50 years, Camp Oakes has taken generations of children, groups, and families to new heights with new friends at their sides. Camp Oakes is the ultimate camp experience, providing high quality programs including horseback riding, rifles, archery, canoeing and more! The Ranch Manager will be responsible for the operations of 20 head for trail rides. We are looking for an experienced manager to care for the horses, train and supervise our ranch staff, and provide excellent service to our campers. We are looking for a Ranch Manager who demonstrates a desire to serve others and fulfill community needs. Building rapport and relating to the children, parents and coworkers is important. The YMCA staff strives to meet or exceed goals and deliver a high-value experience for our members. Qualifications: 1.High School Diploma or equivalent 2.First Aid and CPR certification 3.Experience working with horses and supervising staff 4.CHA Equine Facility Manager level 3 preferred. 5.Must pass criminal background check including fingerprints 6.Must pass a drug test, complete a health exam to include TB test Working Conditions: Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. childcare and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate to loud. While in this position the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
