Camp Description: Camp Wa Wa Segowea is embarking on the next chapter in its 100 year history, as the Northwestern CT YMCA takes over the operation of this historic program. Utilizing its setting on nearly 500 acres of scenic property, including a 30-acre private lake, we look forward to providing an exceptional camping experience for both returning and new resident campers, as well as adding a day camp component. Job Description and Required Certifications: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Camp Director will have an incredible opportunity to help blend the cherished traditions of this camp with new and exciting experiences for our campers. Reporting to the Director of the Winsted Branch of the Northwest CT Y, the Camp Director will lead the team of camp staff throughout the summer, including recruiting, hiring and training staff in all areas: counselors, program areas, camp nurse, transportation, food services, etc. The Camp Director will also be responsible for helping to promote the camp, recruit campers, and process registrations. In the months leading up to camp, as well as following camp, the position will be part-time, requiring limited hours per week, working out of the Winsted Branch Y. From June-August, the position will be full-time, living on the camp site; the Camp Directors house is a family-friendly cabin overlooking the lake a spectacular place to wake up each morning. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for an experienced camp professional with a passion for making a difference in childrens lives, and a commitment to our vision for creating an exceptional camp program. Requirements: Baccalaureate Degree or appropriate professional certification. Minimum of 25 years old. Minimum 2 seasons of administrative or supervisory experience in organized camp. Minimum 5 years of camp and youth programs with related age group.
Salary Information: $12,000 (salary for season)
