Job Description and Required Certifications: The Assistant Site Director assists the Site Director with the oversight and implementation of the summer day camp program serving youth ages 5-12. This position will work with the Site Director to supervise camp staff, communicate with families and personnel, and direct the daily functioning of the day camp. The Assistant Site Director is responsible for ensuring that the summer camp program is in compliance with the mission and policies of the YMCA of Western North Carolina and State Licensing Regulations. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with at least 15 credit hours in Education and two years of experience working with children in a camp or childcare setting are preferred. Field Trip Coordinators should have understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior, and development. This position requires strong communication, logistical, and organizational skills, and creativity and energy for daily implementation of summer camp programming. Staff must be available to start training the week of May 20th. Camp runs from June 4th – August 20th, and preference will be given to those that can work the entire summer. Incumbents will be required to have American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications, or to complete these courses during staff trainings. Staff will receive up to 40 hours of mandatory training prior to the first day of camp.

Salary Information: $10.50-$11.50/hr.
