SUMMER DAY CAMP SITE DIRECTOR Camp Name: YMCA of WNC Summer Day Camp Camp Location: Asheville, NC Camp Description: Summer Day Camp at one of five locations in Buncombe County, NC Sponsoring YMCA: Child Care Services YMCA YMCA Location: Asheville, NC Job Description and Required Certifications: The Site Director is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the summer day camp program serving youth ages 5-12. This position will supervise camp staff, communicate with families and personnel, ensure timely completion of all administrative duties, direct the daily functioning of the day camp, and ensure that the summer camp program is in compliance with the mission and policies of the YMCA of Western North Carolina and State Licensing Regulations. The Site Director is ultimately responsible for the operations of the camp under the guidance and direction of the Youth Development Director. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. An Associates or Bachelors degree with at least 15 credit hours in Education and two years of experience working with children in a camp or childcare setting are preferred. Field Trip Coordinators should have understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior, and development. This position requires strong communication, logistical, and organizational skills, and creativity and energy for daily implementation of summer camp programming. Staff must be available to start training the week of May 20th. Camp runs from June 4th August 20th, and preference will be given to those that can work the entire summer. Incumbents will be required to have American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications, or to complete these courses during staff trainings. Staff will receive up to 40 hours of mandatory training prior to the first day of camp. Salary Information: $11.00-$13.00/hr.
