Camp Description: YMCA Camp Shady Brook is located 90 minutes Southwest of Denver on the South Platte River, nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountains at 6800 feet in elevation. We have an amazing summer staff of 50 talented people from all over the world to bring approximately 150 campers to camp for 10 different weeks each summer. We believe strongly in our mission and are highly selective in our staff hiring. YMCA Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Job Description and Required Certifications: The successful Ropes Course Director will oversee the operation of a comprehensive ropes course including High Ropes, Low Ropes, 150ft zip line, and climbing wall. The Ropes Course Director will be able to ensure the physical, mental, social and emotional safety for campers aged 6-17 while using the Ropes course. The Ropes Course Director will develop curriculum for 1-hr long classes in climbing, high ropes, and low rope elements. MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES: Required: •Must be at least 21 years of age •CPR & First Aid Certifications •Previous overnight camp experience •Minimum three months experience facilitating challenge course experiences •High School Diploma required •Ability to asses challenge course equipment and make sound decisions regarding its use •Minimum of three months of full time or equivalent part time satisfactory and verifiable experience with middle school age children, and teens. Preferred: •Six months of satisfactory and verifiable experience with middle school age children and teens. •1 year previous work with challenge course programming •2 years previous camp experience •1 year previous supervisory experience KEY FOCUS AREAS: •Safety/Risk Management •Child/Youth Development •Program Design and Implementation •Staff Supervision

Salary Information: Summer seasonal position for 10.5 weeks $2,268 - $2,394/season
