Camp Description: YMCA Camp Shady Brook is located 90 minutes Southwest of Denver on the South Platte River, nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountains at 6800 feet in elevation. We have an amazing summer staff of 50 talented people from all over the world to bring approximately 150 campers to camp for 10 different weeks each summer. We believe strongly in our mission and are highly selective in our staff hiring. Job Description and Required Certifications: Come join YMCA Camp Shady Brook and the Pikes Peak YMCA for a season of life changing experiences, character development and fun! The summer program coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of all summer camp programs offered at YMCA Camp Shady Brook. The summer program coordinator will be expected to provide operational leadership and support throughout the year in hiring and supervising seasonal staff, assisting in food service areas as needed, camper recruitment, and accreditation paperwork. Finally, the summer program director must have the moral courage to make reasonable and prudent choices to protect the health and well being of camp participants and staff. MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES: Required: •21 years of age •Minimum of one year previous camp experience •First Aid & CPR Certification •2 years of staff hiring and/or staff supervision experience •Ability to relate well to a variety of people •Knowledge or experience in at least three of the following areas: challenge course management, target sports (Archery & Riflery), waterfront operations, equestrian programming, leave no trace camping, teen leadership, and arts & crafts. •Familiarity with the YMCA’s mission and four core values Preferred: •Bachelors degree in recreation, experiential education, physical education or related field •3 years previous camp experience •Knowledge/experience with at least 5 of the following areas: challenge course management, target sports (Archery & Riflery), waterfront operations, equestrian programming, leave no trace camping, teen leadership, and arts & Crafts. •Familiarity with the American Camping Association accreditation standards KEY FOCUS AREAS: •Program development •Staff hiring and supervision •Camper recruitment •Program supply ordering •Accreditation standards

Salary Information: $325/wk
