Camp Description: YMCA Camp Shady Brook is located 90 minutes Southwest of Denver on the South Platte River, nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountains at 6800 feet in elevation. We have an amazing summer staff of 50 talented people from all over the world to bring approximately 150 campers to camp for 10 different weeks each summer. We believe strongly in our mission and are highly selective in our staff hiring. YMCA Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Job Description and Required Certifications: The successful Arts and Crafts Director will be an organized and creative person who wants to spend a rewarding summer helping children to explore their world and values through a creative arts program. The Arts & Crafts Director will lead hour long blocks of arts activities ranging from drawing, painting (oil & acrylic), photography, nature crafts, sculpture, friendship bracelets, and more. Ability to administrate, plan, coordinate, and initiate small and large group activities for children and adults. MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES: Required: •Must be at least 20 years of age •CPR & First Aid Certifications •Previous experience coordinating and leading age-appropriate arts and crafts activities. •High School Diploma required •Minimum of three months of full time or equivalent part time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school age children, and/or family programming. Preferred: •Six months of satisfactory and verifiable experience with school age children, and/or family programming. •Previous overnight camping experience •Teaching experience in at least 3 of the following areas: Drawing, Painting (Oil or acrylic), Photography, Sculpture, Nature Crafts, Jewelry Making, Candle Making or Screen Printing. •One year of supervisory experience •Two years of college completed KEY FOCUS AREAS: •Safety/Risk Management •Child/Youth Development •Program Design and Implementation •Staff Supervision

Salary Information: Seasonal position for 10.5 weeks - $2,268 - $2,394/season
