Camp Description: Located on Barlow Lake, Camp Manitou-Lin offers kids a variety of experiences! To support the amenities listed, we have nine out buildings and 10 resident cabins that can house 220 people. Our riding center houses 50 horses year-round and we also have two archery ranges, a chapel, zip line, high ropes course, rock wall, along with three docks and a variety of boats

Job Description and Required Certifications: The Waterfront Directors main duty is to ensure a safe, smoothly-run waterfront area. The Waterfront Director schedules, trains and supervises a lifeguarding staff of 4-6 full time guards. They will oversee initial assessment of incoming campers, make buddy tags, run drills and lifeguard inservices each week. The Waterfront Director will ensure a safe, fun area for children and adults to interact and enjoy. This position requires guarding on open water with varied visibility (Lake Barlow) outside in the weather and elements. The Waterfront Director is also responsible for all watercraft sports: speedboats, canoes and kayaks. This position is from June-August, requires Room and Board and the pay is $225-$250/week. KNOW HOW High School diploma or general education degree (GED); six months life guarding experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. Ability to interact with people from all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification, or equivalent, required WSI certification required Cardio Pulmonary Recitation (CPR) for rescue required First Aid certification required PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES Supervise + schedules Lifeguarding staff Administers emergency First Aid and CPR Enforces aquatic rules and procedures Keeps deck free of obstructions Maintains supervision of participants Trains Lifeguard staff and provides weekly inservices to maintain skills Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion Maintains deck equipment Enforces safety standards and follows emergency procedures Ensures State of Michigans Department of Health requirements are met Maintains State of Michigans Department of Health records Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Camp Manitou-Lin.
