Camp Description: Leslie Marrowbone Memorial YMCA Camp is a small co-ed residential camp on the eastern edge of the Cheyenne River Reservation. We serve native and non-native youth ages 8 to 17. "Camp Marrowbone" is surrounded by pristine prairie and Lake Oahe, a shoot of the Missouri River.

Job Description and Required Certifications: The Leader-In-Training (LIT) program is a relatively new program designed to introduce Cheyenne River Youth to a variety of leadership and life skills within the safety and structure of summer camp. LITs are 14 to 17 year olds who are passionate about camp and value their own leadership potential. The LIT Supervisor will work directly with the Camp Director and Cook to coordinate and oversee the LIT daily schedule, responsibilities and specific LIT programming. Each LIT will commit to a minimum of three weeks of service to camp, his/her three weeks can be consecutive or separate. LITs are in charge of Kitchen Duty (preparing and serving meals and clean up) and general camp maintenance. In the mornings, between breakfast and lunch, LITs will have separate leadership and responsibility themed activities as well as in the evenings. “After-dark” activities will be at the discretion of the Camp Director and LIT supervisor. When not participating in LIT programming and responsibilities, LITs are expected to participate in regular camp programming. The LIT Supervisor is a great way to gain leadership/supervisor and administrative experience. This position allows you to work closely with an amazing group of young people with endless potential and talent. Responsibilities include assisting the Camp Director with organizing and executing staff training, carry-out the LIT daily schedule, supervise all LITs to ensure they are following through with their responsibilities and create leadership and team building-based activities and programming specifically for LITs. The LIT Supervisor will also serve as a counselor in which he/she is expected to live in a tipi with campers, coordinate and participate in camp programming, assist with pick up and drop off of campers and serve as a role model and positive influence for all campers. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, energetic, consistent, dependable and creative. Experience working with teenagers is preferred. Applicants must have first aid and CPR certification, or be willing to receive their certification by staff training or during staff training.

Salary Information: $225/8.5 weeks
