Camp Name: YMCA Camp E.L.K.

Camp Location: Wrightwood, CA

Camp Description: Located just 81 miles northeast of Los Angeles,in the Angeles National Forest, YMCA Camp E.L.K. and Coulter Pines, offer unique opportunities for groups, outdoor education and traditional resident camping.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Desired Qualifications: • Training and experience with camp programs. • Excellent communication skills including listening, public speaking, and facilitation ability. • Current CPR and first aid certifications. • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors. • Ability to encourage people to challenge themselves and overcome fears. • Ability to accept guidance and supervision. • Good character, integrity and adaptability. • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control • At least 18 years of age. Essential Functions: 1. Facilitate challenging activities that incorporate principals and lessons that participants can apply in their daily lives. 2. Work with Program Director during staff training to set up area and program for campers. 3. Supervise and implement proper use of equipment, maintaining the highest standards as set forth by the American Camping Association. 4. Responsible for daily documented safety inspection of equipment and course. 5. Assist in coordinating specialization with other camp activities and plans. 6. Participate in daily and weekly staff meetings and in-services. 7. Must be able to visually recognize when participants make dangerous attempts to complete their objective and prevent accidents. 8. Help participants progress through programs from beginner to advanced levels. 9. Debrief after each activity to improve the dynamics of every group. 10. Evaluate current season and make recommendations for equipment, supplies, and program for following season. 11. Assist in other program areas as directed by supervisor. 12. Assist in the kitchen as a dish washer as assigned by supervisor. 13. Clean cabins and bathrooms in camp as assigned. 14. Assist with labor necessary for maintenance and renovation of Camps E.L.K. and Coulter Pines. 15. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required by YMCA Management.

Salary Information: Starts at $275 per week
